Cloudanix vs Wiz.
The honest comparison.

Wiz built the modern CNAPP category and built it well — and for many US-only, SOC-2-focused engineering teams, Wiz is still the obvious pick. This page is for the other buyers: the ones operating in multiple regions, shipping AI coding agents to production, living with real compliance regulators (RBI, DPDPA, SAMA, GDPR-strict), or just tired of opaque enterprise pricing. We've tried to make it useful, not promotional.

The 30-second version

If you only read one section.

Pick Wiz when
  • You're a US-resident company without strict EU / India / Middle East data residency requirements.
  • SOC 2 and PCI are your dominant compliance frameworks — and a US-region SaaS posture satisfies both.
  • You value the largest brand recognition in CNAPP and don't need to negotiate on contract terms.
  • You're not yet running AI coding agents (Claude Code, Cursor, Kiro, Copilot) against production.
  • The CloudSec Academy library is part of what you're paying for — Wiz's content engine is the largest in the category.
Pick Cloudanix when
  • You operate in multiple regions — especially EU, India, or Middle East — and "data must stay in our region" is a hard requirement.
  • You need CloudPrem — Cloudanix deployed inside your own VPC, with your KMS keys.
  • You're already shipping AI coding agents to production and need an MCP-native JIT broker and action firewall.
  • Your compliance reality includes DPDPA, RBI, IRDAI, SAMA, PDPL, DORA — not just the US framework set.
  • You want Database JIT and DAM as native — not a separate DSPM-shaped tool.
  • You'd prefer published pricing and a contract you can read end-to-end without legal review.
Credit where it's due

Where Wiz is genuinely strong.

Pretending the leader has no upsides destroys credibility. Here's where Wiz earned its position.

📚

CloudSec Academy — content moat

Wiz publishes near-daily across hundreds of definitional articles. If a cloud security acronym exists, Wiz has probably written about it. This is genuine topical authority and drives both organic search and AI-answer citations.

🧬

Brand & analyst position

Wiz is the default answer in CNAPP for most US-centric buyer evaluations. That's not nothing. If "the safe pick" matters more to your buying committee than fit, Wiz wins on optics alone.

🔭

Agentless inventory speed

Wiz's side-scanning approach to inventory at first connection is fast and well-engineered. Time-to-first-finding is genuinely short, and that demo-day moment is memorable.

Now the other side

Where Cloudanix is the better pick.

Five places where we believe Cloudanix is straightforwardly stronger for the buyer profile this page is written for.

01

Multi-region sovereignty — by design, not by add-on

Cloudanix runs four independent regional control planes — US, EU (Frankfurt), India (Mumbai), Middle East — with data that never crosses borders. Wiz's regional posture is US-resident-first; an EU or India deployment is typically a regional copy of US infrastructure, not a sovereign tenant. For Schrems-II-strict EU buyers, RBI-bound Indian financials, or SAMA-bound Saudi banks, this matters more than any feature comparison.

02

CloudPrem — Cloudanix inside your VPC

For workloads that can't share a tenant with another customer — most defense, many banks, top-tier healthcare — Cloudanix offers CloudPrem: the same control plane deployed inside your AWS, Azure or GCP account, with your KMS keys. Wiz doesn't ship a comparable in-your-account deployment. If your procurement requires "data and control plane both inside our cloud account," this is the decisive factor.

03

Agentic JIT — MCP-native, today

Claude Code, Cursor, Kiro, Codex, Aider — all speak MCP (the Model Context Protocol). Cloudanix exposes itself as an MCP server, brokering short-lived, intent-scoped credentials so the agent never sees a long-lived key. Combined with the Coding Agent Firewall, that's block-gate-scope-audit on every agent action. Wiz's AI security positioning is broader and earlier; the MCP-broker primitive isn't a Wiz product today.

04

Compliance-led — DPDPA, RBI, SAMA, IRDAI, DORA

Cloudanix ships compliance frameworks as a first-class data object — not as a generated PDF. That includes the regional frameworks Wiz's US-centric library doesn't go deep on: India's DPDPA, RBI for banks/NBFCs/PAs, IRDAI for insurers, Saudi SAMA and PDPL, UAE Federal DPL, EU DORA and NIS2. If "regulator-driven" is your compliance reality, the gap is meaningful.

05

Published pricing, transparent contracts

Cloudanix publishes pricing on the website and ships a standard contract you can read in a single sitting. There's no per-cloud minimum, no opaque "enterprise tier," and no land-and-expand pricing penalties. Wiz, like most CNAPP enterprise leaders, prices on quote and contracts through field sales — that's a known buyer friction point.

06

The CNAPP+ four additions

Cloudanix ships everything in the CNAPP definition — CSPM, CIEM, CWPP, CDR, Code Security — plus four capabilities the CNAPP definition leaves out: Agentic JIT, Code-to-Cloud lineage, compliance-led design, and data-aware (DAM, Database JIT, residency) controls. That's our framing for what CNAPP needed to evolve into.

A note on the Wiz / Google Cloud acquisition.

Wiz's acquisition by Google Cloud is the largest cloud security deal of its kind to date. For some buyers — those already standardizing on Google Cloud, or those who value hyperscaler-backed roadmap stability — the acquisition is a positive. For others — especially AWS-heavy or Azure-heavy estates, and any buyer wary of single-hyperscaler entrenchment — the acquisition introduces a question mark about long-term multi-cloud parity.

Cloudanix is independent. We treat AWS, Azure and GCP as equals in product, in support, and in roadmap. If cloud-neutrality matters to your security tool, that's worth weighing in your evaluation.

Common questions

What buyers ask us about Wiz.

Is Cloudanix a Wiz alternative?

Yes — and a particularly good one if you operate in multiple regions, run regulated workloads outside the US, ship AI coding agents to production, or want published pricing and a standard contract. For US-resident SOC-2-only teams without those factors, Wiz is still an obvious pick and we'll tell you so. See the "When to pick Wiz / When to pick Cloudanix" section above.

How does Cloudanix compare to Wiz on EU compliance?

Cloudanix's EU control plane is operated end-to-end inside the EU — database, replicas, logs, support tooling — with no cross-region replication of customer telemetry. That satisfies the Schrems-II requirement for an EU-resident processor. Wiz offers an EU region, but the typical deployment posture is a regional copy of US-resident infrastructure rather than a sovereign EU tenant. For strict EU buyers, this is a meaningful difference. See data residency →

Does Cloudanix support DPDPA / RBI compliance for India?

Yes. Cloudanix has an India-region (Mumbai) control plane, with compliance content mapped to RBI guidelines for banks / NBFCs / payment aggregators / gateways, IRDAI for insurers, SEBI for capital markets, and the new Digital Personal Data Protection Act (DPDPA). Indian telemetry stays in the India region. Wiz does not, today, offer a comparable India-resident posture or India-specific compliance framework coverage.

How does Cloudanix handle AI coding agents like Claude Code and Cursor differently from Wiz?

Cloudanix exposes itself as an MCP (Model Context Protocol) server. When Claude Code, Cursor, Kiro, Codex or Aider needs a cloud credential or attempts an action, the request goes through Cloudanix first — short-lived, intent-scoped credentials are brokered to the agent, risky actions can be gated on human approval, and every action is identity-stamped back to the human operator. Wiz's AI security positioning is broader and earlier; the MCP-broker primitive isn't a Wiz product today. See the Coding Agent Firewall →

Does Cloudanix include Database Activity Monitoring?

Yes. DAM and Database JIT are first-class Cloudanix products — keyless, audited, real-time database access with optional data masking. Wiz's DSPM work covers data discovery and classification but doesn't extend to live DAM / DB-JIT in the same way. If your security program treats databases as a primary asset (not just "another resource type"), this is a real differentiator. See DAM →

What about the Google Cloud / Wiz acquisition?

It's the largest cloud security deal of its kind to date. For Google-standardized buyers and those who value hyperscaler-backed roadmap stability, it's a positive signal. For AWS-heavy or Azure-heavy estates, and any buyer wary of single-hyperscaler entrenchment, it introduces a question mark about long-term multi-cloud parity. Cloudanix is independent and treats AWS, Azure and GCP as equals — in product, in support, and on the roadmap.

How does pricing compare?

Cloudanix publishes pricing on the website with no per-cloud minimum and a standard contract. Wiz, like most enterprise CNAPP leaders, prices on quote through field sales. We won't put competitor pricing numbers on a public page (they change, and it's a bad faith move), but the transparency difference is real and worth a procurement conversation. See pricing →
