Cloudanix vs Orca.
Two graph-first CNAPPs,
different buyers.

Orca pioneered agentless side-scanning, and for fast time-to-first-finding on AWS, Orca is genuinely good. This page is for the buyers that want more than sidescan: multi-region sovereignty, MCP-native Agentic JIT for AI coding agents, real Code Security depth, and the full CNAPP+ four additions. We'll be specific about where each side wins.

The 30-second version

If you only read one section.

Pick Orca when
  • Time-to-first-finding on AWS is your top selection criterion — Orca's side-scanning ramp is the category benchmark.
  • Your environment is US- or EU-resident only, with no India / Middle East / sovereign-VPC requirement.
  • You're not yet shipping AI coding agents (Claude, Cursor, Kiro, Copilot) to production.
  • Database security and DAM aren't strategic — your SecOps team treats databases as "just another resource."
  • You're already comfortable with sidescan-based deployment and don't need an in-your-VPC option.
Pick Cloudanix when
  • You operate in multiple regions — especially India, Middle East, or sovereign EU — and need real local-by-default deployment.
  • You need CloudPrem — Cloudanix deployed inside your own VPC, with your KMS keys.
  • You're shipping AI coding agents to production and need an MCP-native JIT broker and action firewall.
  • Your compliance reality includes DPDPA, RBI, IRDAI, SAMA, PDPL, DORA.
  • You want Database JIT and DAM as first-class products, not DSPM-shaped data-discovery.
  • You want a real Code Security product, not just basic SCA bolted onto a CNAPP.
Credit where it's due

Where Orca is genuinely strong.

Sidescan was a real engineering bet, and it paid off in measurable ways.

Time-to-first-finding

Orca's agentless side-scanning genuinely shortens the gap between "we just connected the AWS account" and "here are the findings." If demo-day speed is your top criterion, Orca is the category benchmark.

🔭

Sidescan inventory depth

The depth Orca pulls from a single snapshot — running processes, vulnerabilities, package versions, even malware detection — is real product work. For organisations already standardised on sidescan, the experience is polished.

📑

Comparison-page library

Orca ships 8 dedicated comparison pages. For a buyer already mid-evaluation, that's a real asset — and the honest reason we're now building our own. Their playbook here is good. We're learning from it.

Now the other side

Where Cloudanix is the better pick.

01

Multi-region sovereignty by default

Four independent regional control planes (US, EU, India, Middle East) with telemetry that never crosses borders. Orca's regional posture is US/EU-centric; India and Saudi buyers asking "where does our data live" typically don't get the answer they need. Cloudanix does.

02

CloudPrem — Cloudanix inside your VPC

For workloads that can't share a tenant — most defense, many banks, top-tier healthcare — Cloudanix deploys inside your own cloud account with your KMS keys. Orca doesn't ship a comparable in-your-account control plane today.

03

MCP-native Agentic JIT & Coding Agent Firewall

Claude Code, Cursor, Kiro, Codex — all reaching cloud APIs over MCP. Cloudanix brokers their credentials, blocks destructive actions, gates risky ones, and stamps every action to a human operator. Orca's AI security is broader and earlier; the MCP-broker primitive isn't an Orca product today.

04

Database JIT & DAM as native

Cloudanix ships Database JIT (keyless, audited, real-time) and Database Activity Monitoring as first-class products. Orca has invested in DSPM — data discovery and classification — but doesn't ship live DAM or DB-JIT in the same way. For data-first security programs, this is the deciding factor.

05

Real Code Security depth

SAST, SCA, secrets, IaC — all from one Cloudanix product that ties code findings back to runtime resources via the shared graph. Orca's Code Security is lighter and more SCA-centric. If "shift-left" is a real program at your company (not a marketing word), the gap is meaningful.

06

Compliance-led — regional regulators first-class

DPDPA, RBI, IRDAI, SEBI for India; SAMA, PDPL, UAE Federal DPL for the Middle East; DORA and NIS2 for the EU — all ship as first-class compliance objects, not generated PDFs. Orca's compliance coverage is real but US-centric. If you need a regulator-driven view, Cloudanix is the closer fit.

What Our Users Are Saying

Customer Reviews

Cloudanix is trusted by security leaders worldwide to deliver proactive, reliable, and cutting-edge cloud security.

One day, I changed the password of a root account, and my CTO called me within less than a minute to confirm if I did so. I was not expecting a reaction this quick. He told me Cloudanix alerted him of this password change and that he wanted to confirm as it was a critical security notification. I couldn't believe it!

Managing third-party partner access was once a major concern for our security posture. With Cloudanix JIT Cloud, we've effectively achieved zero third-party risk. We can now grant access confidently, knowing that it is temporary, audited, and automatically revoked, resulting in a 100% reduction in our privileged access exposure.

Common questions

What buyers ask us about Orca.

Is Cloudanix an Orca Security alternative?

Yes — particularly for buyers operating in multiple regions, running regulated workloads outside the US/EU, shipping AI coding agents to production, or treating database security and Code Security as strategic capabilities (not bolt-ons). For AWS-resident teams whose top criterion is time-to-first-finding via sidescan, Orca remains a strong pick.

How does Cloudanix compare on side-scanning?

Orca is the category leader on agentless side-scanning ramp speed and depth — that's their original technical bet and it's a real one. Cloudanix offers agentless inventory paths too, but our differentiation isn't sidescan; it's the four CNAPP+ additions (Agentic JIT, Code-to-Cloud lineage, compliance-led design, data-aware controls). If you're optimizing purely for "fastest first finding on AWS," Orca wins that benchmark. If you're optimizing for the broader cloud security program, see the comparison sections above.

How do Cloudanix and Orca compare on DSPM and data security?

Orca's DSPM work — data discovery and classification at scale — is genuinely strong. Cloudanix ships DSPM too, plus two products Orca doesn't: Database JIT (keyless, audited, real-time database access with optional masking) and Database Activity Monitoring (live query observability with anomaly detection). DSPM tells you where the sensitive data lives. DAM and DB-JIT tell you what's happening to it right now. Most mature security programs need both. See DAM →

What about regional / sovereign deployment?

Cloudanix runs four independent regional control planes — US, EU (Frankfurt), India (Mumbai), Middle East — plus CloudPrem (inside your own VPC) for workloads that need full tenant isolation. Orca offers US and EU deployment but doesn't ship an India- or Middle-East-resident control plane today, and doesn't ship an in-customer-VPC deployment. If your procurement requires "data and control plane both inside our cloud account" or "all telemetry must stay in India / Saudi Arabia," this is the deciding factor. See data residency →

How does the AI coding agent story compare?

Cloudanix exposes itself as an MCP (Model Context Protocol) server — Claude Code, Cursor, Kiro, Codex and Aider speak MCP, so the credential broker and action firewall plug in directly. Orca's "AI security" framing is broader and earlier; the MCP-broker primitive and the Block/Gate/Pass firewall on agent actions are not currently Orca products. If you're already running AI agents against production, this is a meaningful gap. See the Coding Agent Firewall →

What about Orca's "Graph Madness" framing of competitors?

Orca's comparison pages frame graph-based CNAPPs (notably Wiz) as "Graph Madness" — the argument being that bolt-on graph databases over-complicate the security story. Our view: a graph that's part of the same data plane as your inventory and findings is the opposite of bolt-on — it's the foundation. Cloudanix is graph-first end to end (no separate graph database, no second ETL, no second bill), which we'd argue addresses the legitimate complaint Orca is pointing at without giving up the analytical power of a graph model.
