What it actually does

The vulnerability permits injection of arbitrary JavaScript or HTML into the destinatario_email1 parameter of visualizza_contratto.php, which is rendered without sanitization, allowing execution of attacker-controlled scripts in victim browsers.

Why it matters to the business

Attackers may hijack user sessions, steal credentials, or perform unauthorized actions within the hotel management application, resulting in data exposure and eroded trust in the booking and contract system.

How an attack unfolds

An attacker identifies the vulnerable endpoint, crafts a payload containing script tags or event handlers in the destinatario_email1 field, delivers it via phishing link or direct request, and the script executes when a privileged user views the contract page, enabling session theft or further actions.

How to fix it

Implement strict input validation and output encoding for the destinatario_email1 parameter; deploy web application firewall rules to block common XSS patterns; monitor for and apply any future updates from the vendor once released.

How to confirm the fix worked

Inspect the visualizza_contratto.php source for absence of htmlspecialchars or equivalent escaping on destinatario_email1 output; perform manual testing with benign payloads such as <script>alert(document.domain)</script> in controlled environments.

Typical attack path

  1. Locate the visualizza_contratto.php endpoint and identify the destinatario_email1 parameter
  2. Craft a malicious payload with executable scripts or HTML
  3. Deliver the payload through email, form submission, or URL to a target user
  4. Victim interaction triggers rendering of the injected content
  5. Executed script performs actions such as cookie exfiltration or unauthorized operations

How to detect it

Review web server access logs for requests to visualizza_contratto.php containing script-related keywords or encoded payloads in the destinatario_email1 parameter; correlate with user activity on contract visualization pages.

  • visualizza_contratto.php.*destinatario_email1=.*<script
  • visualizza_contratto.php.*destinatario_email1=.*onerror=
  • visualizza_contratto.php.*destinatario_email1=.*javascript:

What your security team should do

  • Apply input sanitization and content security policy headers immediately
  • Scan application logs for historical exploitation attempts involving script payloads
  • Educate users on avoiding suspicious links that target contract viewing pages
  • Evaluate alternative hotel management solutions if vendor patching remains unavailable

The record

A cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability in /hoteldruid/visualizza_contratto.php of Hoteldruid v3.0.5 allows attackers to execute arbitrary web scripts or HTML via a crafted payload injected into the destinatario_email1 parameter.
