What it actually does

Use-after-free of a pointer in the debugger vector of a global object causing memory corruption that can be leveraged for arbitrary code execution.

Why it matters to the business

Remote attackers could gain full control of affected user devices, enabling theft of credentials, data exfiltration, or installation of persistent malware across browser user bases.

How an attack unfolds

An attacker serves specially crafted web content that interacts with the debugger vector, frees the pointer while it remains referenced, then reuses the dangling pointer to corrupt memory and execute attacker-controlled code.

How to fix it

Upgrade Mozilla Firefox to version 112 or newer and Mozilla Focus for Android to version 112 or newer; apply updates through official channels and verify installation.

How to confirm the fix worked

Confirm installed browser versions meet or exceed 112; re-test affected debugger vector code paths in a controlled environment after patching.

Typical attack path

  1. Deliver malicious HTML/JS via a crafted website or ad
  2. Victim browser renders the page and exercises debugger vector paths
  3. Trigger use-after-free to corrupt memory layout
  4. Achieve arbitrary code execution within the browser process

How to detect it

Review browser process crash logs and memory dumps for signs of corruption involving debugger vector structures; correlate with web request logs showing visits to untrusted domains around the time of anomalies.

What your security team should do

  • Immediately deploy browser updates to all managed endpoints
  • Block known malicious domains and monitor web traffic for suspicious rendering behavior
  • Enable browser sandboxing and exploit-mitigation features where available

The record

An attacker could have caused memory corruption and a potentially exploitable use-after-free of a pointer in a global object's debugger vector. This vulnerability affects Firefox for Android < 112, Firefox < 112, and Focus for Android < 112.
