A cross-origin issue with iframe elements allowed exfiltration of data across origins due to insufficient tracking of security origins.

How an attack unfolds

An attacker hosts a malicious website embedding an iframe to a target origin; the flawed origin tracking permits cross-origin data leakage which the attacker then receives.

How to fix it

Upgrade affected products to the listed fixed versions: goauthentik.io (Go) 2024.4.4 or 2024.6.4. For Apple platforms apply Safari 18, iOS 18, iPadOS 18, macOS Sequoia 15, tvOS 18, visionOS 2 or watchOS 11.

How to confirm the fix worked

Confirm browser or product version meets or exceeds the fixed releases and test that cross-origin iframe requests no longer permit unauthorized data access.

1. Attacker crafts malicious site containing targeted iframe
2. Victim loads the malicious page in a vulnerable browser
3. Iframe content from another origin is accessed improperly
4. Sensitive data is exfiltrated to attacker-controlled server

How to detect it

Review web server and browser logs for unexpected cross-origin iframe requests or data exfiltration patterns from untrusted domains; correlate with known threat actor activity around Apple product vulnerabilities.
