What it actually does

A crafted URL containing Arabic script and whitespace characters hides the true origin of the page, enabling spoofing via improper input validation of address bar content.

How an attack unfolds

How to fix it

Upgrade affected products to fixed versions: Firefox to 133 or later, Firefox ESR to 128.5 or later, Thunderbird to 133 or later, and Thunderbird to 128.5 or later; for listed Wireshark packages apply the specified Ubuntu updates such as 1.12.1+g01b65bf-4+deb8u11ubuntu0.14.04.1 or 2.0.2+ga16e22e-1.

How to confirm the fix worked

Verify browser and Thunderbird versions meet or exceed the fixed releases; test URL rendering with sample crafted Arabic/whitespace inputs to confirm origin is no longer obscured.

Review browser history and logs for visits to URLs with unusual Unicode or whitespace patterns; inspect network logs for unexpected redirects or resource loads from spoofed origins; no widespread exploitation indicators reported.
