What it actually does

The vulnerability permits positioning a datalist HTML element to visually obscure the browser address bar, enabling UI spoofing of the displayed URL.

How an attack unfolds

How to fix it

Upgrade Firefox to version 113 or later, Firefox ESR to 102.11 or later, and Thunderbird to 102.11 or later; apply updates across all endpoints promptly given the more than three years since disclosure.

How to confirm the fix worked

Verify installed product versions meet or exceed the fixed releases and test address-bar visibility on pages containing datalist elements.

Typical attack path

1. Host a malicious webpage embedding a datalist element with CSS positioning to cover the address bar
2. Lure the target user to the page via phishing or compromised sites
3. Victim interacts with the page under the false impression of visiting a legitimate URL
4. Attacker captures credentials or performs other social-engineering actions

How to detect it

Examine browser history and rendered page artifacts for unexpected datalist usage coinciding with user reports of address-bar anomalies; no widespread exploitation indicators are known.
