How an attack unfolds

An attacker crafts a malicious web page or email attachment that, when rendered by a vulnerable Firefox or Thunderbird instance, triggers one of the memory corruption conditions to achieve code execution within the browser process.

How to fix it

Upgrade Firefox to version 106 or later, Firefox ESR to 102.4 or later, and Thunderbird to 102.4 or later. Apply the fixes listed for the tensorflow/tensorflow GIT repository at commit 73ad1815ebcfeb7c051f9c2f7ab5024380ca8613 where applicable in dependent builds.

How to confirm the fix worked

Confirm browser versions meet or exceed the fixed releases and verify that memory-safety test suites pass without triggering the reported corruption conditions.

1. Deliver malicious content via web page, email, or download link
2. Victim opens content in vulnerable Firefox or Thunderbird version

Review browser crash logs and memory dumps for signs of corruption around the reported bugs; examine web proxy and endpoint logs for access to suspicious domains that might host exploit content.
