What it actually does
Missing lock around the buddy allocator trim function in the amdgpu driver allows concurrent access, leading to invalid memory operations and general protection faults during VRAM resource allocation.

How an attack unfolds
An attacker or benign user triggers concurrent DRM atomic commits and VRAM allocations (such as during YouTube and Steam usage) that race into the unprotected trim path, dereferencing corrupted structures and causing a kernel fault.
How to fix it
Apply the upstream fix from commit 758e3c3054b65336cf0c5f240221f63b4fb98478 or the cherry-picked equivalent; rebuild and deploy updated kernel packages for all affected distributions.
How to confirm the fix worked
Confirm the lock acquisition is present around amddrm_buddy_block_trim and that the GPF stack trace no longer reproduces under the original concurrent workload; verify kernel version contains the referenced commit.
