CVE-2024-53083

What it actually does

Failure to initialize hdr_len and txbuf_len before a possible early return on USB_PDPHY_RX_ACKNOWLEDGE_REG read error causes the driver to print uninitialized stack values, resulting in disclosure of arbitrary kernel memory contents or misleading diagnostic data.

How to fix it

Upgrade the affected package to the fixed version flashplugin-nonfree (Ubuntu 14.04 LTS) 11.2.202.559ubuntu0.14.04.1; apply the upstream kernel commit that initializes hdr_len and txbuf_len before the register read.
