What it actually does
NULL pointer dereference in iommu_device structure of pci_controller during DLPAR PCI device addition on powerpc/pseries because iommu_device_register is not called for dynamically added controllers, leading to kernel oops at sysfs_add_link_to_group.

How an attack unfolds
An attacker with local root privileges or access to DLPAR management interfaces triggers addition of a PCI slot via tools such as drmgr or rpaphp sysfs interfaces; the missing iommu_device initialization causes the kernel to dereference a NULL pointer in the IOMMU notifier path and panic.
How to fix it
Update the Linux kernel to commit b8315b2e25b4e68e42fcb74630f824b9a5067765 or later stable release containing the fix that calls iommu_device_register during DLPAR PCI addition.

The above added iommu_device structure to pci_controller. During system boot, PCI devices are discovered and this newly added iommu_device structure is initialized by a call to iommu_device_register(). During DLPAR add of a PCI device, a new pci_controller structure is allocated but there are no calls made to iommu_device_register() interface. Fix is to register the iommu device during DLPAR add as well.
