How an attack unfolds

Update Firefox to version 124 or later, Firefox ESR to 115.9 or later, and Thunderbird to 115.9 or later. Apply the corresponding fixed package versions for any affected AlmaLinux bcc components listed in the advisory.

Typical attack path

1. Scan for or fingerprint users running vulnerable Firefox or Thunderbird versions

3. Trigger memory corruption via crafted input to hijack control flow and execute attacker-supplied code

Monitor browser process crash reports, unexpected child process spawns, and memory-related error logs from affected applications; correlate with inbound content delivery events.
