CVE-2022-2996

What it actually does

The library disables or omits TLS certificate validation when establishing HTTPS connections, allowing any certificate presented by a remote server to be accepted without validation of chain, hostname, or revocation status.

How an attack unfolds

An attacker on the same network path as a python-scciclient client performs a man-in-the-middle attack, presents a forged certificate, and the client accepts it without verification, allowing the attacker to read or modify all subsequent HTTPS traffic.

Upgrade python-scciclient to a release that enforces certificate validation or apply a local patch that enables proper TLS verification; for Debian packages, apply the latest security updates once available and rebuild dependent images or containers.

How to confirm the fix worked

Inspect source or configuration for explicit disablement of certificate checks, then run connection tests against a server presenting an invalid certificate and confirm the client rejects it.
