What it actually does

Remote authenticated users can trigger a denial-of-service condition in the InnoDB storage engine by submitting crafted DML statements, causing the MySQL server to crash or become unresponsive.

How an attack unfolds

How to fix it

Upgrade Oracle MySQL Server to a version later than 5.5.41 and 5.6.22, apply equivalent patches from MariaDB or distribution vendors, and restrict DML privileges to the minimum required set of authenticated users.

How to confirm the fix worked

Verify the running MySQL version is newer than the vulnerable releases, review release notes for the InnoDB DML fix, and test that authenticated DML operations no longer cause server instability under expected workloads.
